Day 1

Nairobi – Masai Mara

Nairobi – Masai Mara

You will be picked up from your hotel, residence or the airport by our safari guide and office representative and participate in a safari briefing session before driving to Masai Mara Game Reserve. Along the way you will enjoy scenic views of the Great Rift Valley.

The Masai Mara Game Reserve is considered the northern part of the Serengeti and is one of Kenya’s most sought-after game-viewing areas. The reserve itself covers 700 square miles of magnificent wilderness. It is the Africa of your imagination with endless reaches of acacia-dotted grasslands studded with hazy hills. Go on an afternoon game drive to see the sunset as you track the “big five” and numerous plains game. Lunch, dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Mara Sopa Lodge.

Masai Mara National Reserve

Masai Mara National Reserve

The full day will be spent exploring the Mara in search of the big five and the wildebeest migration. Separate morning and afternoon game drives are also offered. An optional hot air balloon safari can be arranged at the extra cost of $400 USD per person.

The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to comprehend. Over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephant. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place: the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (in Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the savannah predators: lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures. Return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay at the Mara Sopa Lodge.

Masai Mara – Lake Nakuru

Wake up at 6:00am and have a cup of hot coffee or African tea before proceeding on an early morning game drive. The early morning offers you a golden opportunity to search for the big five. If you are lucky you will see lion, leopard and black rhino. Return to the lodge or camp after two or three hours for a full breakfast. After breakfast you will check out and, if interested, pay a visit to a nearby Masai village. This can be organized by your driver for an extra cost of $20 USD per person. You will be entertained by a Masai dance and visit a Manyatta. Take as many photos inside the Manyatta as you’d like so you can capture the amazing memories of this African cultural visit!

From here you will proceed to Lake Nakuru for lunch and an afternoon game drive. All meals and your overnight stay will be at Lake Nakuru Lodge.

Lake Nakuru – Nairobi

Eat breakfast and then proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in good time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. This scenic park is famous for its numerous species of birdlife, especially the pink flamingos. Although Lake Nakuru is primarily a bird sanctuary, there are a considerable number of animals to be seen here, including zebras, elephants and gazelles. This is also one of the best places to see rhino since Lake Nakuru National Park was the first place in Kenya selected as a rhino reserve. This is also one of the few places where we can see Rothschild’s giraffes. Later you will return to Nairobi. Your driver will drop you off at the place of your choice or transfer you to the airport for your flight home.
